IM Browser Manual

Shortest path

IM Browser calculates all the shortest paths between two entered genes/proteins.

Example: Calculate shortest paths between genes "TBPH" and "cad" and add them to the graph.

1. From the main menu select 'Edit'->'Add Shortest Path'.

2. In the displayed dialog box select tables of interest.

3. If you know genes ID, enter them in the text area. If you don't know the IDs, click on Find ID.

4. Click on "Search for genes/proteins in look-up tables".

A new dialog box will appear.

1. In the push-down menu select “Symbol”.

2. In the text area enter 'tbph, cad".

If the genes with such names are found, IM Browser will display IDs of the found genes.

1. Select two genes.

2. Press “OK”.

3. Press “OK” again.

4. Press "OK" one more time.

After calculating the shortest path, IM Browser will display in the Message Board the length of the path.
